Well, NEQP has come and gone again this year. It sounded like a lot of
people were having fun with the contest. I know at least a few that were
'aggressively' competing for the lobster dinner prize.
Jim (WB1Z) & I decided to do the roverin again this year. After such a poor
performance last year we felt we at least had to vindicate the good name of
the club call with one more attempt. Although band conditions were less than
optimum we managed to exceed our goal of doubling last years total QSO's.
Probably nothing to write home about considering last years number was 30!
But everyone needs a goal! At least Don Johnson won't have to be ashamed of
the W1NY performance two years in a row!
We roved through a large number of counties in VT, NH, MA, RI & CT over the
two days. The weather was good, the bands were poor and I'm tired! We heard
a number of club members making contacts, we even managed to talk with a few
of them! Watch for next month's edition of Zero Beat for a 'blow by blow' of
the roving experience!
Just a reminder for those of you submitting logs to NEQP. This is a club
competition contest, so be sure to put down HCRA as your club affiliation in
the log before submitting. Watch http://www.neqp.org for news and scores
from this years contest.
A special thanks to all the HCRA members who took part in the contest. Your
participation really made a difference. It's nice to be a member of such an
active group of hams.
