REMINDER: The first Kid's Day event of 2003 is Saturday (the second is
June 21 ).

"Kid's Day is intended to encourage young people (licensed or not) to
enjoy Amateur Radio. It can give young people hands-on on-the-air
experience so they might develop an interest in pursuing a license in
the future. It is intended to give hams a chance to share their station
with their children."

Please see http://www.arrl.org/FandES/ead/kd-rules.html for the details.
I expect special event K1D (the Schipelliti family--Peter, W1DAD, and
Jeanne, K1MOM, in NH) to be on the air with their two youngsters,
Luciano and Geena.

Hi everyone,

Well, it looks like Mother Nature decided to play along with the weather
forecasters this time. The snow is falling rapidly and travel is
treacherous. According to the NWS the storm won't be over until sometime
tomorrow.

Because of the weather, we have decided to cancel tonight's meeting. Dan
Henderson has been contacted and will reschedule for a future meeting.

Not to despair, the storm should give us a chance to play radio without
the usual distractions of meetings, to-do lists, shopping etc. There are
a number of operating events this weekend, so I'm sure we can all find
something to keep us from shoveling the driveway! Here's a link to some
of the contests on the air this weekend:
http://www.hornucopia.com/contestcal/weeklycont.html.

In case you forgot, the next meeting (February 7th) will feature one of
our very own members. John, N1JIO will be on deck explaining all the ins
and outs of computerizing your shack. Let's all put our request in to
Mother Nature today for clear skies for the first Friday in February.

As always, thanks for your support of amateur radio and the HCRA. I look
forward to seeing everyone at next month's meeting.
