Hello all, I am alive and well in VA now. I guess for some I should let ya
know I am moving. Hehehe. So the repaters are safe once more. I am staying
in Falls Church and I can hit at least 1 machine the 146.91 repeater. I have
to find out where that is.
I do have a question though. We have a DSL connection and before I had
gotten here they had tried to figure the best way to do a network. Now they
have an Earthlink home portal 100 router, a Dell computer which runs XP and
is the server to be. I have 2000 on my laptop and one of the other guys has
XP on his laptop as well. First will the OS matter when trying to set up a
network so all three computers have internet access? Second, we have some
Cat 5 cable but we are not sure if that is the right cabling to use to run a
network. The Earthlink router came with some 24AWG grey cabling. I am not
sure but I think its just another type of Ethernet cable. Also is there a
method to which wires go to which sots in the "telephone plug" you attach to
the cat 5 if in fact you can use it. I should have mentioned the run is
about 20 feet tops.
Any thoughts are welcome and chat with you all laters!
