Let me introduce myself. My name is Marty
Bowen. Some of the newly licensed "Hams" may
remember a bearded man who attended the last
two classes and subsequently took the technician
license exam with them. Club members may recall
the new face attending last months meeting who
won the raffle and chose the antenna as a prize.
T'is I.
I thought it would be a great idea to have
my first amateur radio contact with the person
who encouraged a walk in to self study in order
to catch up with the class an get licensed. So,
I arranged with Peter KI1I to contact him on
147 triple 0 last evening around 17:45 hours for
a short QSO. My QTH at the time was Windsor, CT.
My "rig" was a Icom IC-T90-A hand held which
seemed to perform well. After finishing the QSO,
I spoke to my wife via cell phone. She had trouble
understanding me. She told me to slow down.
Apparently I was more excited than I realized.
Thank you Peter Beauregard, It was an honor and
a privilege to have you as my first contact.

Marty

Has any of the new hams got their first contact completed? Care to
share the story? I know that I (and I probably speak for the rest of
the group in the list) would love to hear how your first contact went.
Don't be shy!
