Hi Gang,
I am beginning to plan for next year's Technician Class License course
for the HCRA. It's too early you say? Not for this part!
For the next months before the class I am looking for who would like to
become instructors for the class. What I would like to see is a pool of
people that are interested in teaching one of the 33 topics (or
several). When the time comes, this list will give me an available pool
from which to choose instructors from when filling in the schedule. As
we get closer to the beginning of the course, the dates of the course
will become formalized. Some of the dates will most likely not work out
very well for some of the individuals in the pool. This is why having
several people with overlapping interests will work out well so that the
work can be distributed evenly among the people in the pool.
Remember that because the work is distributed between so many people,
the obligation committed to by becoming an instructor is relatively easy
to meet. This year's course went rather well and the students of the
class have indicated to me that they did enjoy the format. I attended
all of the class meetings to try to be the "glue" that cemented the
classes together and was able to fill in the blanks that some
instructors had regarding information presented at previous classes.
If this is something that you would like to participate in next year,
then I would like you to take a look at the topics listed on our web
site by clicking on the following link:
http://www.hcra.org/instructors. Pick as many of the topics as
possible that you are capable of presenting. Remember, you will only
have to present a few topics even though you may have selected 8 or 10
for example. If you only select one topic, I would see what I can do to
make sure that you are able to participate by presenting that topic.
The book has been revised for June of 2003 so the topics may have to be
realigned with the book. I don't anticipate that the topics will change
that much. If new topics are added, I will post them. It is more
likely that just the page numbers of assignments will change for the
various topics.
Don't delay! The best time to take care of generating a list of
interest in this course is sooner rather than later. I spent way too
many hours during my winter break (near thirty) organizing the course
this year. I am going to try and spread the time out better over this
next year so I don't get into a crunch situation again.
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

Peter
