I just want to say thank you to everyone who replied to my amplifier question and Fred (W0LPD) the bands I am working on is 20 meters and 40 meters at this time the antenna I am using is a g5rv Jr. And the Apex is about 18 feet off the ground. The antenna is capable of 40 through 10 meters. I do have a very small backyard with two big trees and the antenna is underneath the canopy of the trees. I'm not exactly sure even if I could put up a vertical if it would be any better. To run a counterpoise would be very interesting. And Kerry (K5KS) you're absolutely right about the RFI here I know my neighbor right beside me she likes to listen to her stereo and even though I may not be getting into her stereo at this time but put power to the radio I'm sure I would. Plus also the neighbors. I know the location that I'm at it's not very good for antennas. I have been working the arrl ssb dx contest and I've been hearing the DX stations but they don't hear me very well and sometimes when I've been making multiple calls and they're not hearing me they get a little frustrating. Like I said if there was some way to put up a little bit more efficient antenna I would go with that more so than an amplifier. And yes amplifiers are expensive Plus getting an external tuner and also running I new 220 outlet that can run into more money than I want to spend. Again I want to say thank you to everyone that responded for my question.WD5ENHSteve
