[HCARC] Solar Flare 10 SEP 17 ~1600 UT

No, your radio isn't broken.  There was an X8.2 flare at 1100 local 
time.  Looks like a big SWF (Short wave fade).  The Austin ionosonde is 
showing no signal coming back.  Probably last a couple hours before it 
starts recovering.  The flare was on or behind the sun's limb probably 
from the active region that just went over the limb.  The proton flux at 
satellite levels increased instantaneously by a factor of 200.  
Propagation will be a mess for a while!  SIDC says the flare was X8.9.
