[HCARC] CW Skills Delayed

Robert and everyone else,

As far as I know there is still a Joint Services school at Goodfellow
AFB in San Angelo and as far as I know they are still teaching Morse
code to operators.  There may not be a large number of students but
there are still a few.  There are a large number of joint schools now,
particularly for the smaller specialties. The services are moving
towards a single service.  It won't happen soon - but it will happen.

The Navy was short those ratings then. Several classmates opted for RD. We were all afraid of having to learn Morse Code at Bainbridge, MD. No RD's in submarines. RM would have been my choice. I regret not converting. In my first boat, I admired Radiomen and duties. Now I struggle with CW 50yrs later. Never too late. Perhaps.
