[HCARC] Windows 10 Anniversary Update

I used GWX Control Panel (Google it for the website) to keep Microsoft from trying to automatically "upgrade" my Win 7 OS to Win 10.

If you've already had Win 10 installed, you can Google the following phrase: "How to prevent Windows 10 from automatically downloading updates" and you will get a number of links to sites that will walk you through the process of disabling automatic updates. The process differs a bit depending on which edition of Win 10 you have (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education).

Hope this helps.

What I hate is you have no choice, even as to when. All of a sudden you have no more control of your computer. Tough luck if you were doing something important. This update updates Cortana - as if I care to be able to talk to another Womans voice. Yeah sure I need that!!!

There were a lot of complaints by ops in the CQWW RTTY contest this past weekend about how the forced update to Win 10 messed up their computers for RTTY decoding, logging and controlling their rigs. I was lucky - I've stuck with Win 7 which worked fine all weekend with my Flex and N1MM+ contesting software.

He isn't kidding. And it makes stuff less user friendly. Thank God for
Linux.
