HCARC Members:

Have you ever wanted to try contesting but didn't feel you have the skills
or equipment? Well, the time has come to stop whining and start making QSOs!

I will be hosting a CQ Worldwide Phone Contest open house from 0000h UTC,
Oct. 24th (7 pm CDT Friday Oct. 23rd) through 2359h UTC Oct. 25th (6:59 pm
CDT, Sunday Oct. 25th) at my QTH south of Kerrville.

You will get a chance to rack up QSOs at my station using a state-of-the-art
transceiver feeding a 12 element beam on 40-20-15-10m and inverted Ls on 80m
and 160m. We'll be using my callsign for contest contacts but you will also
be able to make QSOs with your call for stations in countries you need for
your personal DXCC (within the bounds of your license class, of course).

Any licensed ham, regardless of license level, can get on the air. Newly
licensed hams are especially welcome along with interested family members.

Learn how to: operate a modern software defined radio; use a spotting
network; call CQ; search and pounce; break a pile up; see how propagation
affects the contest; use contest logging software (N1MM+); tune an
amplifier; enjoy the thrill of running stations and maybe getting a few new
countries into your personal log.

Come for a few minutes or the whole weekend. Food and refreshments will be
provided.

Let me know via email to my ARRL address (k4dg at arrl.net) if you're
interested and I'll put you on my operator list and provide you with
directions to my QTH.

73,

Dale - K4DG
