Meeting Minutes

6 November and 7 December 2014

MEETING COMMENCEMENT

The meeting was called to order by President Terry Hipskind (W0HIP) who led us in the Pledge Of Allegiance.  There were 35 members in attendance with 1 guest Johnathan Johnson (unlicensed) at the November meeting and in excess of 60 attendees at the Christmas Party.

MEMBER AND GUEST RECOGNITION

At the November meeting President Hipskind explained the 50/50 and gave out tickets to the following people for having helped during the past month:  Barb and Pete Schuyler (N9NM, N9OF respectively) for providing goodies for the break and to Mort McKenzie (WB2GEU) for sugar free goodies. Gary Johnson (N5BAA) ,Tony Moore (KG5AAO) and Gordon Green (KG5DKI) were thanked by Alan Cone (K5AFC) for their having taken down the R-7 antenna which was delivered to his QTH.

The October 2014 minutes were posted and approved.

The Treasurers report was read and approved

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Repeater (Harvey K5HV) – Nothing to report.  Repeater functioning well.

VE Testing (Fred W0LPD) – 5 sessions were held in 2014 (27 candidates, 25 licensed or upgraded).

Red Cross Liason (Terry W0HIP) – Our local Red Cross’ region has changed due to reorganization within the Texas Red Cross.  There are now 3 Regions, our local region consisting of 18 counties or roughly the size of the State of Oregon.  Significant thought needs to be applied to how we will communicate across an area that large.

Nominating Committee (Bob K5YB) – results and election are as follows:

NEW BUSINESS

San Antonio Radio Club Radiofest to be held in Schertz on 10 January 2015.  The doors open at 8 am.

Jan 10-11 Ultra Marathon in Bandera

The Christmas Party was  held at the 1st Presbyterian Church Social Hall (same wonderful venue as the last two years) on the first Saturday in December, the 6th, at 12:30 pm.  Marilyn Vordenbaum (KE5DDR) did her consistently outstanding of planning and executing the party and a great time was had by all.  $50.00 from the treasury was donated to the church for use of their facility.  This was voted on by the membership and unanimously approved.  All attendees were requested to bring a canned food item for distribution to Christian Assistance Ministries (CAM).

REMINDER,  the meeting in January is on the 8th since the first Thursday is New Years Day.

BREAK FOR REFRESHMENTS FROM Barb, Pete, and Mort.

The presentation was by Bob Ritchie who recapped the last years presentations and solicited input for what the membership would like to have for this years presentations.

November 50/50 was won by Mike Connor.  December 50/50 won by Sherry Noble.
