John, that's because ALL UHF's ARE JUNK - having a crimp style UHF
will not change that fact!!
In fact, UHF's are NOT constant impedance and really fall apart at > 300mhz.
Best one can do is get a good UHF to N adapter and make all coax connectors
out of N's. (although SMA, and TNC's are good as well, i will use those.)
I got a "kit" crimp tool set, in a nice carry case. PowerWerx sells one.
But any "ratchet" style crimp tool will do, like the one's from Amazon.
