I have a Hustler 5BTV Vertical that I got several years ago from Gale Heise that I want to put up and use since the last rainstorm brought down the Fan Dipole I had up and was using. The antenna had at one time been put together with No-Alox which has left some dried on residue on the aluminum. I presume that I need to remove this residue to ensure proper contact between the sections of the antenna. What is best to use - 350, 400 or 600 grit emery paper, steel wool or whatever?? Would some fresh No-Alox serve as a solvent for removing the residue or maybe Goof Off or Goo-Gone??
