Charlie,

Sorry about the trimming - I get the emails individually and the latest
iteration of that particular email is always on top. Haven't even thought
about trimming - I will though if it helps you.

Don't think I will go to the trouble of building my own PC. I get PC's from
Dell way too cheap (with no shipping and no sales tax) via he VA Canteen
buying program available through the Kerrville VA Canteen to Disabled Vets
and Active Duty Military. Being too cheap to buy from Dell coupled wih my
typical usage being internet and running Radio software, windows 8 may
hopefully be usable. Did you do any of the reading of the stuff on using
Windows 8 from David Pougue, that I posted a link to??

What I have heard though is if you are going to run windows 8 get as fast a
chip as possible (I5 or I7 at least) and as much RAM as you can afford.

Do you really think Microsoft is going to trash windows 8 on the heels of
just a couple of years of Windows 7. To me - windows 7 is like Vista and
eventually afer Microsoft does all of the tweaks, Windows 8 will be the next
XP. My bet is that Microsoft has way too much invested in Windows 8 to let
it die.

My biggest worry computer wise is ensuring my wife has a least one XP
capable computer in reserve to operate her Bernina Embroidery machine. It
would be nice if the new computer would interface seamlessly with the K3 and
Yaesu radios I have and be able to run logging programs. Maybe I should
just buy an additional used XP machine for the shack vs buying a new
computer. According to David Pougue - there is a steep learning curve with
Windows 8.
