[HCARC] ARRL Slideshow Availability and Kudo's To Linda Ransom

I understand Linda was searching for some help. She shared her thoughts
with me and the best I could do was agree with her thoughts of presentation
and refer her to Terry, HCARC President. I also suggested she ask Dale
Gaudier if he still had some informational brochures that had been used in
the classes he taught. It would have been good if more notice had been
given for such a presentation. The club probably needs to have additional
materials printed for future events such as this. Sam Jones and Calvin
Noble have each had some business cards created that state some meeting and
contact information related to HCARC.

I'm really glad Linda was able to "do the deal". She's a smart lady!

There are some books at the station that are in the form of a "comic book"
presentation. They are really designed for children but we are all children
at heart. They are fun and colorful, very easy to read and understand. I
will show them to you at the next meeting.

Gary, if my memory serves me correctly, there are several items at N5HR
station in the way of visual presentations that could be used for such a
meeting. They are clear and straight to the point. For a group as large as
you mentioned, the visual presentation might be difficult to show at the
location you mentioned.

I think it is important that the new officers and the new executive
committee discuss some of this and be ready in the future when such a
request is made. It sounds like there might be some serious interest in ham
radio. We need to be prepared.

Hopefully this little bit of information will help.
73,
Marilyn KE5DDR

Subject: [HCARC] ARRL Slideshow Availability and Kudo's To Linda Ransom

Last Thursday night Linda Ransom gave a pretty darn good presentation on Ham
Radio, especially since she was called upon by the Kerr County Preppers
group with only 3 days to prepare. She deserves a whole pile full of
tickets come the February meeting.

However, we seem to have wetted the appetite of some of the Preppers for Ham
radio information. Do we have an already prepared slide show that can be
used for a rpesentation to one of their next meetings?? There were over 100
people jammed into Buzzies BBQ meeting room and almost every seat was taken.
They are a bunch of people just thirsting for both knowledge and direction.

Please let me know about any slide show you know about. I did email ARRL to
see what they have, but have not heard back from them. Something has to
exist somewhere.

BTW, minutes of the meeting will be along probably Monday afternoon or
evening. My one computer with a Word Processing program is getting
"cleaned" by the good folks at Omniglobal (WCC.net).
