Gary,

You're not the only one with that kit that didn't get instructions!  If you hadn't guessed, Amidon is from Santa Ana in the Deomcratic Republic of Free California.  Instructions have been det ermined by the DRFC to cause birth defects in children, cancer in ol der people as well as raising the general level of intelligence which has been deemed dangerous to their form of socialist/communist government.  By the way, I understand Europe is even worse.

For a 4:1 balaced to unbalanced balun take two 4.5 inches ( thats 11.43 cm, for those true techies!) of #14 copper wire, enameled;  place them side by side ;  put a little masking tape on each end to hold the wires together;  and wind them on the core.  Its easy.  You should end up with about 10 turns, but its not critical.  I've got the instructions for connecting the wires but don't think it is a good idea to send them over the reflector.  NO, I'm not worried about being sued, it is just hard to generate a word picture.  A T200-2 core means it is 2.00 inches (5.08 cm) in diameter  and is made of #2 powdered iron material.  It is not a ferrite.  Changing to a different impedance ratio means more windings in parellel but not more turns and a different connection scheme.

Tell Terry I'd be happy to do a tech corner on the subject at the next meeting if you can still provede a kit (and maybe one for you to construct, too!)

Kerry

PS.  That EMP thing is absolute pure nonsense.  If I wanted to worry about something I'd worry about my government spying on my computer and cell phone in spite of Constitutional protections or A-Rod not getting a lifetime suspension from baseball and the Yankees continuing to have to find creative ways to keep him out of NYC and Yankee Stadium!
