I remembered reading in MECHANICS ILLUSTRATED magazine about the stacked/soldered beer can antenna for some small town Sheriff's Department. On my first attempt to pass the General License Exam there was a question about Beverage Antennas. I plugged in the memory of the article from the magazine. I missed that question. I failed the first attempt at the license as well.

Field Day this year will be at the OLH High School in Kerrville. It is located off HWY 27 East of town across from the Mini Mart Near the Kerrville Airport or Guadalupe Heights Subdivision.
Volunteers needed for Antenna Setup on Friday, Supper on Saturday, and any one interested in operating a rig.
There was mention of a scissor lift for one of the antenna towers but I can not find in my notes who that was or the point of contact. Any input would be welcome.
I have located another beam antenna and tilt tower but will need a crew to get it down it is currently in center point and mounted on the side of a building. Gail has sent me photos last year and I was able to work the deal to acquire the tower, rotor, and antenna. Will have to work out the details to get this one down.
Looking forward to Field Day More to follow.

Kerry,
?
Your presentation at the last meeting was great.? I enjoy thinking about antennas.? When I had some land (always?just a city lot) I put up a few.? As a young ham I drove my poor father crazy. When I got him to agree to let me put up a tower, well, that's another story for another time.
?
I couldn't resist commenting on your antenna recommendation on tonight's net. I always thought you gave out the beers AFTER the antenna was raised at the antenna raising party.? In this case, the beers have to be drunk first.?That being the case, and only 4 people are suggested to raise the antenna means that, well,? you can do the math for the 82 cans required for a 32 ft vertical.? I have to wonder how vertical the vertical would be after all that beer consumption?? Also, looking at the price list, when was the last time we were able to purchase a 1 quart bottle of soda for $.05 - in a glass container no less?
?
Please, keep offering suggestions on antennas.? What made you stumble across this one I can only imagine.
?

It won't work now anyway. That was in the day of the steel beer can.......
Do you really think you could solder aluminum cans?

Yes, Harvey, that's true.? But I think the question should go to Kerry as he was the one who recommended the antenna.
