[HCARC] Reflectors For A Vertical Antenna

There is a design for one in the ARRL Antenna Book with electronic steering.  I don't remember the name but it looks interesting for a monobander.

If guy wires for a vertical antenna were made from wire cut to the proper length could they be used for or could they act as Reflectors and Directors like on a yagi antenna??
