Charlie-

Thanks for the advice, comments and suggestions about a 10 meter rag chew
session.

For those members who have never put up an antenna, I'd recommend you take
Charlie up on his offer when he wants to raise his antenna. I plan to
attend.

Subject: [HCARC] 10 Meter Rag Chew & Propagation Test

To all who are interested in this subject:

I think we need to keep in mind why Gale , KM4DR, came up with this
initiative. 10 meters was selected so that Tech licensees could
participate and get some experience on HF. With this in mind I think
we should not suggest moving to General and up HF bands. Let's keep our
eyes on the ball!

With this in mind I'll soon be putting up a 10 meter dipole in my side
yard. Figured I'd hang it vertical in a tall Red Oak I have out there
and see how well it gets out locally. If that doesn't work out I'll try
other configurations and orientations in an effort to make Gale's idea work.

In the interest of timeliness I bought a commercially available antenna,
also because it's cheaper than assembling the materials for one. Also
bought a sling-shot affair that purportedly will shoot tennis ball over
high tree limbs. :-) If anyone is interested in playing with this
device (toy?), I'll let you know when I plan to hang the antenna. It
should be some time next week.

Also, I'd like to suggest Wednesday evenings for testing & rag chewing.

73s,

Charley, af5ao
