[HCARC] Fwd: Crank Over Rohn Tower

Don,

I don't plan on using a setup anything like his 70 foot tower with a mast on
top. I was thinking of just using it at about the 40 foot height or maybe
with a short mast on top of that, but nothing like 70-90 feet. I have the
other crank up tower that I pick up tomorrow that will get me up 72 feet
before putting on a mast and antenna. I was just wondering if anyone had
ever heard of hinging a taller tower that didn't crank up at the base. I
never wou,ld have even though of trying to drop a 40 foot tower to the
ground. As a second tower that could be 40-50 feet up it might be a great
second tower to run dipoles to.

Everyone always keep telling me - get them up high - I don't have any trees
taller than about 35 feet, but a second mast might do the trick.

The antenna tower I am picking up tomorrow has all of it's guy wires still
attached. They are twisted wire cable. Is it better to continue to use
these or change them out for Dacron or other synthetic material??
