Thanks for the response.
My main use of an HT would be emergency comms use. Over a long haul, I
expect the built in battery pack to fail at some point. That is when having
the ability to backup with AA rechargeable batteries would come in very
handy. Northing would be worse than an HT and no way to adequately power it
in an emergency. That's why I guess we call them emergencies. My guess
would be that I could purchase an extra battery pack as insurance, but at
the cost of some HT's, it might be less expensive to buy more than one HT.
I'd much rather have the HT able to run on AA batteries.
