Bill,
You should take a look at the ICOM IC-7000 or it's predecessor the IC-706MkIIG (but not the older 706MKII or IC706 which don't do 70 cm)
They do 6, 2 & 70cm [CW, SSB and FM] as well as 160-10 HF. They're compact and can be used mobile or at home (I've done both with my 706IIG).
The 7000 is current production and the 706MkIIG was in production until just a year or so ago. I've had good luck with all my ICOMS and their North American service center has taken good care of me.
The 7000 is not horribly expensive (new $1280 at Universal Radio in Ohio) and both have appeared on used lists at various dealers. You can probably find them on auction sites also but "you pays yer money and takes yer chances".
Hope this helps.

Subject: [HCARC] 6M thru 70cm
To all:
At the present time, I don't have a radio that covers these bands (6M thru
70cm). Can anyone offer suggestions on the best way to accomplish covering
6M, 2M and 70cm in particular in an economical way? Is there any activity
on 1.25M?
Any advice is welcome.
73 and thanks
Bill Anderson
