Hello Bill and Mattie....Merry Christmas to you both.....and a great New Year.

Tomorrow, we will leave for our Winter DXpedition to the DL99-DM90 grid line...just south of Rocksprings. I would love to see you come over if you have the time and if the WX is not too bad. We plan to drive over tomorrow and we will be staying at the Sorrell Inn right where US377 and TX55 meet. George-NR5M is coming up from the Houston area and the entire group is planning to meet at the Sorrell Inn at 8AM on Tuesday. We will then drive over to the location and set up.

If you start from the intersection of TX55 and US377 right at the Sorrell Motel, go south 0.87miles and turn left on a white rock road. To go the end of the road and turn right down into the pasture. We will be down in the middle of that big pasture. I have sent you a couple of Google Earth maps to show where we will be.

If you can come, that would be great. I would suggest that you get the local clubs to send out something to all their members about our group. We would love to have some kibitzers/gawkers/learners/newbies or even some hams that have been around, but have not seen something like this done. I think that Kerrville has a nice ham club and maybe there are others around the area.

We are fielding a pretty big station for a portable operation. The rig is a Pro2 and the amps are TWO of M2's 6M 1000 amps combined. On the bench, they will make a cool 1800W, but on the generator, they will only make about 1400W. The antennas are a pair of 6M5Xs mounted on a 20ft cross boom with fiberglass tips. We have full AZ and EL rotation and we hope to work some EME when the moon is setting for us.

The WX during the day is not too bad...in the 60° range, but at night it is going to be cold.....probably down in the high 30°s. I will take my cell phone and I will try to keep it turned on. The phone number is 936-201-0790. In addition, I will try to see that we have an FM rig on 146.52 to listen for anyone that might be looking for us.

It will be great to see you and / or Mattie. However, the WX looks pretty cold, so if you don't want to get out, I certainly will understand.
