Greetings to the group...
I was reading about the HBT-200 described in my 1968(?) copy of W6SAI's radio handbook, and while it's doubtful that I will attempt to reproduce it (i.e., HBT-200), would still like to build a 'somewhat' matching transmitter for the HBR-17 that was recently added to my vintage collection.
Has anyone here built (or is in the process of building) such a beast?
I'm strongly considering the "15 watt exciter" described in the 1956 Radio Engineers Handbook.  Granted, the dial assembly doesn't match the HBR, in addition to using a PTO. But I have two Collins 70E8(A) vfo's, that I can choose from, and a metal cabinet with the same dimensions as the Wyco used on the HBR (16, delux, etc). The design is much less complex and therefore more 'do-able'.
If you have useful parts, spare 'junker'HBR, old cw transmitter, that are collecting dust and you're interested in parting with for a reasonable price; please contact me off-list. HV Plate transformers and chokes (200ma or higher) are of particular interest. The exciter unit is designed with a 2E26 in the output stage, but i have a number of other tubes in my junk-box that could be pressed into service (6146, 807, 1625) that need around 700+ plate supply.
