Hi Brian,
Oren Elliot also makes reduction drives.
http://www.orenelliottproducts.com/planetary-reduction-drives
I was going to suggest Jackson Bros drives but I think they have gone out of
business.
Another option is the Vernier capacitors - Some of the no-name vernier
capacitors are really stiff.
I have a way to add a dial plate to the verniers capacitors using parts from
a shaft coupling.
Hope your receiver project is going well.

I know not on topic,
but I just bought three myself. They
came in the mail last Monday...
1956, 1963 and 1975. Have a dozen
others somewheres : ) But think I will
get a few more throughout the next few
years. Lot of fun paging through these
and day dreaming. It's interesting to note that the 1975 Handbook looks
20-30 years older then the other two : ) Brownish paper.

PS still did not get my HBR CD, I'll check the bank statment and see if the
check had been cancelled or not.

One of my great treasures is the 1945 Handbook that was given to me, by an
Uncle in the Navy. BEST are the adverts in the back - wish they'd never
stopped doing that. I also have a 1943 "Special Defense Edition" - it's as
old as ME, and I've never seen another one.

Hello All,
In case you haven?t run across it, here is a source for a 6:1 planetary
reduction drive for ?? shafting---$10?I thought that these were long gone:
http://www.midnightscience.com/index.html
I queried them about backlash on the unit, and they responded that they had
sold several hundred without hearing of any.
This is the website of the Crystal Set Society, and they have a few other
items of possible interest to HBR builders. Click on ?Parts? at the top of
their home page.
Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian,
I have an 80/75 meter transceiver made by Dentron that uses a pair of those
reduction drives in series for 36:1 reduction - 18 turns from end to end of
the tuning range. The first 6:1 unit will multiply any backlash in the
second unit by 6 times and add it's own backlash to that. There is *NO*
backlash in the radio I have. You should be happy with them. I also did not
know they were available and I have bookmarked that web page. Thanks for
sharing it.
