[HBR] "The Deluxe HBR Receiver"

Hello All,

 

Thanks to Walt Hutchens' mention of "The Deluxe HBR Receiver" in an article
that he wrote for Electric Radio #47, March 1993, I bought a used copy of
the Radio Handbook---17th edition (1967). I've been gathering HBR
information for quite a while, but hadn't heard of this variation on the
theme until I read Walt's article. 

 

The Radio Handbook's article is quite extensive, and includes parts layout
drawings. There were a number of copies of that edition on Amazon for around
$9.00---a super bargain for an excellent reference book from the golden age
of vacuum tube ham equipment, and edited by that colossus, Bill Orr W6SAI.

 

Has anyone ever seen or used one of the "Deluxe" models? And, Walt, what's
your opinion on this design after 22 years?
