Sorry, typo, I meant that the "HF" (Harbor Freight) new drill press is fine.

I agonized over that one for months. A good used drill press is still fairly
pricey. In the end I bought a Chinese-made Harbor Freight floor-standing
drill press for about $300 and I'm very pleased with it. I replaced the
stock chuck with a high-end Jacobs chuck that will accept the smallest drill
bits (that was another $100).

IMO, unless you're going to be using a drill press a lot, the HB model is
fine.

Good luck with your complete homebrewed station! I am working on a similar
all-tube station project, but with lower-end circuits -- more like a "Novice
station on steroids."
