I've tried several cements and quite honestly can not tell much
different in Q using the Heath Q meter. I think for amateur radio
purposes just about any evaporate cement, model airplane hobby glue will
suffice. I don't think there are many of us that could measure the
"loss" of receiver performance after a loss in Q of 10 etc., But I would
never cover the whole coil just tack down the turns 3 or four places as
you go around the form. You might want to change it slightly later.
When using the larger coil form that have "ribs" I usually just leave
the windings alone and not glue them, the ribs work well.
Besides its fun to experiment with the windings.
Speaking of coils, leave room in the top of your receiver for the longer
160 meter coils. :-)
