[HBR] IF Transformers for HBR from ARC

First let me say I am new to HBR's and just discovered how much information there is here in the HBR message archives- what a wonderful wealth of information.  My goal is to eventually build an HBR (probably an HBR 16) since I now am the owner of the 85 KC IF transformers from an ARC R-11a.

I have never built anything with tubes and feel that I cannot  call myself a real Ham  until I can say I built a rig that glows in the dark. Hihi.   As soon as I got the IF's I immediately took them apart (well that's half the fun - taking them apart to see what is in the aluminum can) and discovered that the 2nd and 3rd stage IF coils  are  tapped and one side of the variable padder cap on the primary side of the coil is grounded.

I then discovered  K4CHE's great web site:  http://k4che.com/HBR/HBR%20page%201.htm  It has pictures of the coils and a schematic -- showing just what I discovered on my own!  I should have know the info was on the web somewhere.

I know the HBR 16 schematic does not show any of the IF coils being tapped nor is one side of the capacitor grounded.  I got the idea form K4CHE's  website that that is ok just use them the way they are.

So am I correct in assuming that I don't need to modify them by rewiring them ?  Also should they be modified for 100 Kc?  Can they just be tuned up 15 Kc with the variable capacitors?

I have a lot more to learn about rigs that glow... it should be a fun adventure.

thanks
