My best source has been at swapmeets and talking to the people. I have also advertised on various reflectors looking fo one. But the greatest number offered/sold has been on ebay. They show up because there were many built and since the HBR Reflector was started, several have been dug out of closets and brought back to life or sold on ebay ...of course, the price has gone up too. I had a record (pictures) of HBR Receivers on ebay and think I had somewhere around 10 or 12 listed
The first one I found, 8-9 years ago, was at Ham-Com in Dallas ....a HBR-14 for $35.
On the other hand some people have done outstanding work with BC-453 50Khz IF coils and available capacitors, available power transformers, and PVC plug-in coils.

Folks,
Where in the world do you find these!? I have been searching hamfests
for a couple years now and have yet to find one. I keep hoping I'll
find one that someone has grown tired of, maybe quit to go onto other
projects, or, well, whatever...
Starting from scratch is a bit beyond my skills but I think I could
finish one that been started. Is there a sort of HBR-xx Lost and Found
site?

> I came across a HBR-11 a couple of weeks ago and it has now followed me home. This one has 7 drilled wooden slide trays for the 5 sets of coils and 2 spare..... complete with 5 sets of original and nicely built coils. The interior looks well built and just dusty. It's straight out of the 60s with the Eddystone 598 (semicircle) dial and Lafayette S-meter. The cabinet was painted and black transfer letters placed where needed. I'm taking some pictures.
