[HBR] Building new radio...

I'd say it depends on your experience level. If this is your first shot at 
it, I strongly recommend the HBR-12. It is built in two stages which makes 
getting the bugs out of it much easier for someone without a lot of 
experience. On the other hand, if you've got the experience, I would say 
it's only limited by your imagination.
