Thanks Tom, Bill, Jim and others.
Yes I have been watching eBay, as a matter of fact I got a dozen 100 pf 
caps, brass plates no less, from there.
The sawing idea is something that I had overlooked. I will give that a try. 
I know pulling plates is not the answer for brass.
Also found a supplier of new caps at $6 a smack. ouch!
