Ebay has a couple of interesting items. #9740437773 is a mostly
stripped chassis with some parts. Looks like it was a double
conversion, single band receiver ... is that the cutout and front plate
from an 898 dial? This auction goes 'till Sunday evening, ET.
#9740328677 is a homebrew five-tube regen shortwave set, 1.85-
30.5 Mcs, using plug-in coils. The description is:
> Great radio to put on display or to use, reminder of the early
> days of radio. This is a homebrew shortwave radio built some
> time ago that uses five 12 volt octal metal tubes. It uses plug

> oscillator coils to cover the range 1.85 to 30.5 MHz. It has a

Built in power supply with solid state diodes. Looks like a RF-
mixer-fixed tuned regen detector-two stages audio with the RF and
OSC tuning controls separate. Nice National 'velvet vernier' dials --
am I remembering that right? Diagram, tuning charts shown in
auction pictures. A fairly nice job except for the speaker cutout
which looks easy to fix or hide. SOMEONE on this list needs this
radio and there's only one bid. Goes to about 3 PM Sunday
afternoon.
