Hi guys:
Thanks guys for taking the time to reply - it is greatly appreciated.
Good remarks: what's important, do it all...compromises...experience.
Let me start with the last - experience.
I may not be a circuit/design guy but I sure have hands on experience..built
my first and homebrew 75 transmitter at age 15 in 1963...repaired airborne (
F-102 ) radar weapons equipment in the USAF...just restored my DX-100 ala GTO @
99.9%..(glad to send pix should you like to see it)
Importance and "do it all" kinda go together...I'd really like: 3 Mc to 150
Mc; AM, SSB, CW...and VHF-FM for 6 & 2 meters reception...or add a VHF
converter latter?
Sorta like a Nems-Clark unit, I'd say.
I would say #1 feature would be super-Bandspread for CW work.
This leads me to ask: just how is "bandspread" specified?? in Mc per degree
for rotation...Mc per delta picofarad of the variable capacitor?
Compromises...I guess when I know them and understand them...I will have
achieved the education I need right now ..hihi
Time...ahhh...THE issue.
Well gents..I ain't got much time.
Matter of fact, as I was away from Ham radio for 40 years...I'm in a hurry
making up for this lost time...so kindly excuse my unenlightened enthusiasm.
Question please: where does one find a selection of enclosures into which
the chassis is placed?
This subject is #2 in importance to me as I'm a avocational 'artist'...style,
appearance, quality, ease...etc are important elements for me...the most
important = Simple.
Yes...simple and minimal.
Guess I got my work cut out for me - huh?
Regards,
Steve
