Just a few words on PW and NPW dials:
There are two styles:
- PW, used in the HROs. They have the capacitor shaft parallel to the front
panel. Up to four capacitor sections.
- NPW, used in the NC-100 and -101 and some others. Shaft is perpendicular to
the front panel (Not Parallel) Up to three capacitor sections.
I have read that some of the parts are made of an alloy that "grows" with
time. The growth is only thousandths of an inch per year, but some of these are
60+ years old. They can be fixed - I saw the procedure in ER or on the web
someplace (dang CRS...)
If it weren't for the fast tuning rate, the PW/NPW would be ideal.
