Walt -

Have you looked at TubePad?  It is specifically for Ham use, has   
"normal" :-)   symbols, and even includes symbols the 30's style symbols 
too.  Common tubes are included complete with data, instead of ICs!  
Very simple to use with Paint or other drawing program.   Free!
