[HBR] "HBR-15" for sale

Lorne, if I remember this set correctly from the auction, it is not a
Crosby set per se in the sense of being published in QST by him or being one
of the sets described in literature emanating from Crosby. If it has 455
khz i.f. then it's different than Crosby HBR's and not like the HBR-15 with
85 khz final i.f. that's shown on the HBR site. If we're talking about
receivers that are akin to the i.f. layout of the Crosby sets, maybe some
distinction should be made when using the term "HBR". I'm quite sure an
equally good receiver could be made with 455 khz mechanical filters in a
scheme akin to the Crosby sets. And it's not a big leap in design and
construction if the same first i.f. frequency was used. It's a set I'd be
interested in if I didn't already have a house full of radios. I'll be
interested in a buyers report on the performance when restored with the
filters (An R-390a filter can be adapted to work, by mounting it on a
nine-pin plug). This works well and may be less costly than trying to find a
Collins filter with 9 pins, though challenging to assemble. best regards,
Dan.

Hello to the list:-

I am curious about one thing.

If this is a Crosby HBR 15, I am assuming it is, what filters are missing?

Looking at previously posted pictures of this radio it definately has the
HBR front end with coils, placement etc, but, I was not aware of the use of
filters in the HBR's. I suppose this could have been an add on by the
individual builder.

Tnx es 73
