[HBR] HBR 16 Owner Pondering Building My Own

Hi all,  I am an HBR-16 owner and I'm pondering building my own HBR.  I acquired this one a couple years ago and its a nice performer and a real pleasure to listen to.   I don't know who built it, nor does the previous owner know.  

I've been noodling on building a later model ham receiver and I'm considering the HBR along with some others.  While I know its like asking whats the best car or the best color of something, is there a best HBR?

I see the HBR-16 and subsequent HBR-11 and HBR-13.  They all seem to be fine and just variations of a theme.   The HBR-11 looks interesting to me, late model, Ted Crosby thought it was equivalent to the 16.  I don't know how the 13 compares to either. 

Maysome someone with a 13 or 11 can comment on performance.
