Greetings All,

If you've ever longed to find a homebrewed receiver of your own at different
swap meets but were unsuccessful, here's a chance to bring out the best
"...tinkerer & experimenter" within you...

Not long ago, I purchased a home made 13-tube rig passed down to an
out-of-town fellow Amateur. The receiver intrigued me because---YES!!!---the
original builder incorporated that famous EDDYSTONE slide rule dial. It
works on 40-meters well enough (I just listened to a bunch of AM'ers up in
the north-east on 7290), but the other bands are dead...obviously needs some
TLC to get them going. But the radio apparently is capable of tuning all of
the traditional bands (judging by the markings on the dial & bandswitch),
INCLUDING 160-meters...

The beast weighs 30 pounds, & was built behind a standard 19" rack
front---the depth of it is 14". The knobs---with the exception of the main
tuning---are AR-88/RCA-style in appearance.

The receiver appears to have been British-inspired: I thought it may have
been the "G2DAF Communication Receiver", which was featured in the RSGB
BULLETIN of July-November 1960, & March-April 1961, but the builder
apparently utilized L/C networks (as opposed to crystals) in the local
oscillators/BFOs.

I don't think this is any sort of an HBR, because of the obvious English
references on some of the parts, per my photos.

I'd like to sell this radio without the hassles of eBay. It's a good
foundation for a quality radio, I think---at worst, what an absolute
treasure-trove of parts for your OWN homebrewed creation!...especially that
Eddystone dial. And we all know how rare those things have become, & what
they're going for...

At the risk of creating an impromptu auction here, I AM OPEN to
offers---there are a total of 17 detailed photos available for viewing, too.
If you're interested, please send me a direct e-mail, & I'll forward same to
you in 3-4 separate e-mails, to prevent mutual servers from getting bogged
down...

Thanks for your interest & the bandwidth, & my very

~73!~ Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ
