The ARRL "How to Become a Radio Amateur" 1967 shows a companion one tube
crystal-controlled converter (6AN8A) for covering 20-15-10m for the Novice
Special Receiver. There is also a companion one tube (6DQ6A) transmitter.
RCA Ham Tips 2/59 mates the rcvr design with a 6AU6vfo/5763pa transmitter
for the portable "Weekend Special". I have one - works great.

There was also a followup article about a 6BA7 converter to go in front of
the Novice Special, thereby creating a three tube Regenerodyne (though the
term was not used in any of the articles). Also a 25 watt 80 meter
transmitter using a 6DQ6. All working from a single power supply. I wonder
if
anyone actually duplicated the entire setup.
