Check the red jacketed ARRL HANDBOOK---1967, I believe...

Also, a VERY similar design (if not the same thing) appears in the 1969
orange jacketed HANDBOOK.

It's a simple enough looking circuit---I'd recommend reading the May 1965
issue of QST first, though ("Miser's Dream" receiver)...
