The only thing to watch for on the thin soda and brewski cans
is that if it isn't relatively sturdy, it will move ......if it moves it
will
change the capacitance to the coil.  A loose 1st oscillator socket 
in it's mounting (non current carrying) will demonstrate this effect 
if you "tap" the enclosure. Especially since the first osc frequency 
is pretty high for the higher bands on this design. I would also like 
to know the effect of very thin aluminum shielding. I've got my eye 
on the tall thick aluminum salt and pepper shakers. Grocery store
should be full of good coil shields.

Same desire to minimize movement of the coil itself on the coil 
form ....both individual windings and the form itself.
