Good morning all.
Tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM in Ashland Ne, at the Bordeaux Pizza place there will be a gathering of some of the most strange Amateur radio folks you have ever seen. These are strange people who like to actually 'build' little (some times big) radios capable of communication on the short wave bands. Oh, and they build other stuff too, like antenna tuners, dummy loads, digital VFO's and tons of other stuff.
These folks get to together on the second Saturday of every odd numbered month and have Pizza, soda, coffee and swap stories about working DX with 5 watts or less of output power. (DX being distance, exotic or new stations operated by other amateur (HAM) operators, sometime on the other side of the world or even in space.)
The 'show and tell' is always interesting and educational and they all come away with more ideas of more stuff to build.
Sometimes they even have a 'Group build' where they all sit down and build the same little gadget together.
It is great fun and if you are not currently a member of this group, you are here buy invited to drop in tomorrow and visit with the folks.
Our next "Group" project will be what is called an SDR, for Software Defined Radio. It is a short wave transmitter/receiver that connects to a computer's sound card and uses the sound card and special software to provide a really good receiver. These packages will not be here in time for this Saturdays get together, the maker is up to his ears getting ready for the annual radio show in Dayton. The kits will be here in time for the July meeting.
Members should bring whatever project they are currently working on or have recently finished.
It is going to be a nice day tomorrow, we are looking forward to seeing you all there..
