[HBQRP] Today's Wall Street Journal

Well, kind of. I do take issue with the persistent characterization of
ham radio as not having changed much since WWII -- we now make extensive
use of VHF, UHF, satellite and digital modes in addition to HF CW. It
also seemed to give the impression that there is no coordination or
organization to the ham efforts; I saw no mention of ARES, SATERN, etc.
All we get is the usual tripe -- "a young man fiddling with a clunky,
outdated-looking radio". I guess having more than one knob qualifies it
as "outdated-looking".

The article seemed to me to be a sort of backhanded compliment, but I
guess it's better than being completely ignored as usual.

It's a thankless job, but I've got a lot of karma to burn off.
