Just to remind me, this noise happens when you tune the receiver. If
so does it happen only with the main tuning or only band spread, or
both? Does it happen when the tuning controls are not changed? I am sure
the answers are in the thread but I am too lazy to look.
One way to check which sections of the cap are used on this band is
to touch them, it should kill the oscillator or at least shift the
frequency a lot. I have trouble reading the schematic off the computer
and want to know if only one section of the capacitor is being used.
Plus, is it used on any other band, alone or in combination. If it is
used on any other band then the tuning cap or BS cap can not be at
fault. Whatever this is has to be exclusive to the highest band. If it
turns out NOT to be the cap but it happens when you tune then it has to
be something that is mechanically connected, i.e., moves in some way
when the tuning knobs are turned. Perhaps poking around with a chop
stick or similar will help to find it. It may be something like an
unsoldered or cold-soldered connection, perhaps on the band switch.
