    My s-meter is also orange. I don't think its original but 
discoloration from the internal pilot light. I think you just 
have to live with it.
    The calibrations for the antenna trimmer seem to be painted 
on the escutcheon. My guess is that it was originally done with a 
silk screen. I suspect one could make a silk screen to duplicate 
it. I am not an expert at that.
