[Hammarlund] HQ-129-X Questions

If I remember the general procedure for getting tracking most accurately, you adjust coils at the low frequency end of each band and the trimmer capacitors at the high frequency end.
The alignment instructions SHOULD designate the standard frequencies for those alignment instructions. If you can't bring alignment in at those frequencies, try doing it at frequencies below AND/OR above the "standard" frequencies. You should be able to get at least a reasonably satisfactory tracking.

Subject: Re: [Hammarlund] HQ-129-X Questions
Thank you this is really helpful. How good is the bandspread
calibration? Mine is very far off. I've centered the capacitor
plates and tried all sorts of other things. I can't figure it
out. I have been told the dials are pretty accurate (considering
the age). The error is progressive.
I have a set of plastic film caps to replace the original
paper ones, perhaps that will make a difference. The original
caps are green molded body with paper labels. The ones I tested
were not too bad. However, because of the mechanical mis fit and
some other things I wonder at the provenance of this thing. I
wonder if the dials from the later receivers would work in the
HQ-120-X. If they are the same I can get that to work and see how
the two compare. While there were a number of changes between
them they are essentially the same design.
