[Hammarlund] Those BBOD caps

So--Why do people buy / sell these on e-Bay? After all, they were removed from old gear because they are ALL leaky or shorted. Are these be re-stuffed and used to restore proper appearance to old gear, ( certainly NOT easy), or are there morons out there that somehow believe that putting these old caps back in service offers some "improvement" ?

I have a couple of large glass jars filled with these things. Always thought that I should keep them out of the hands of the ignorant.
