Hello Mike,

Brian - sounds like you want to make this completely home brew. Would you
consider using a pinch drive from a donor Hammarlund or other set?

Yeah, my mother must have heard me say "I can do it myself" a whole lot.

There was an April fool article years ago in Fine Woodworking magazine where
the guy was recommending a particular deposit of iron ore in northern
Michigan that was especially good for making your own router bits (;->). I
sure thought that was funny, because it was just the sort of thing that
appealed to me.

So, I am going to stop short at making my own IF transformers, though I
couldn't resist ordering a copy of Lindsay's booklet on making your own coil
winding machine. I am looking for the 85 kHz IF's from a BC-453 in case
anyone knows of a source.

Part of the reason for making my own dial drive is that to include the WARC
bands on a dial it needs to be rather large in diameter. I like the look of
the Hammarlund "window" onto the dial---I have an HQ-150---so I will need to
make a larger "window" in my HBR.

Cheers,
