Good AM Bob,
	Yes, Jack, W0YJ, is a good man, he's helped me out before.
	I can't find anything published on PTT mods for the HX-50, but the 
manual indicates that it was provided for at the rear accessory terminal 
strip, pins 1 (gnd) and 2 (PTT).  It should be a simple job to run a 
wire from pin 2 to a new 2-circuit mike jack with the added contact. 
Perhaps your prev. owner did connect a new wire, from the mike jack to 
either the function switch S104A(front) or to that end of R104, which is 
off the cathode of V107b, then for some reason disconnected (or cut) the 
existing wire from the function switch to the rear terminal strip's pin 2.
	I hope this is of some help.
